The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has released a list of companies that it has certified to produce face masks and hand sanitizers to feed the increasing demand for the materials in the face of the second wave of Covid-19 infection that the country is going through.
According to the list released by the Bureau, 48 companies have been certified to produce non-medical face masks, while 105 were approved to make hand sanitizers. The 48 mask producers will produce 52 different brands of masks while the 105 sanitizer makers will produce some 132 bands of sanitizers.
UNBS is the statutory mandated entity of the Government of Uganda that undertakes quality assurance and undertakes standards certification.
“In the wake of the 2nd Wave of COVID-19 infections, the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) under its mandate of ensuring the quality and safety of Sanitizers and Disinfectants on market hereby notifies the public of the 105 Companies certified to produce 132 Brands of Sanitizers and Disinfectants as of 6th July, 2021,” the Bureau said in a statement.
