The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has handed back works for Mbale-Tirinyi-Nakalama road to local contractor, Dott Services Ltd. Allen Kagina, executive director, UNRA confirmed to journalists the new development.
In late 2017, President Yoweri Museveni wrote to UNRA, arguing that there is need to build capacity of local companies to undertake contracts. The President recognized the contribution of Dott services in various infrastructure areas including electricity dam construction.
Following the resumption of works on the roads, the area which had become a political concern as demonstrations and strikes were staged by surrounding communities on the stretch of the road owing to the increase in the number of accidents that occurred on the road and the inconvenience by the dusty stretches. The progress of works on the work has since restored calm in the area.
